LOCATION: Victorville

REPORTS TO:           Shelter Manager

HOURS:                      This is a Part-Time position. Hours will fluctuate based on needs of the programs with some evenings and weekends will be required.

HOURLY RATE:        $16.00 to $18.00

BASIC DUTIES:         The Youth Advocate is expected to provide nurturing care and management of youth in every living requirement. Duties include but not limited to: completing intake and discharge paperwork, supervising recreational activities, supervising and helping with daily chores, participating in group outings, coordinating with volunteers, maintaining client files, and follow CCL regulations.

  • Supervise clients/volunteers in a positive, caring manner to make sure staff work together as a cohesive group

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to pass CPR and First Aid Training, Pass a physical and a TB Test
  • Be open and Honest about any convictions
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Pass a background check
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and vehicle with a valid registration and insurance, have a good driving record, and be willing to travel between offices and units during the workday.

TAY Case Manager – FAM SPOT (Temporary)

POSITION:               Temporary TAY Case Manager – FAM SPOT

REPORTS TO:         Program Manager

LOCATION:             Victorville, Ca.

SALARY:                  $17 to $19

BASIC DUTIES:       Works independently, and as part of a team, in providing holistic and comprehensive case management services to homeless youth. Including intake assessment, benefit assessment, goal setting, weekly case management development, progress monitoring, advocacy, and referrals.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

CLIENT SERVICES

  • Meeting with clients weekly, creating and maintaining individual client goals.
  • Connect client with needed and available community resources. Follow-up with client and agencies to document use/success of referral.
  • Ensuring shelter resources are made available to client such as, counseling, support groups, and classes.
  • Addresses client issues and concerns, works as a liaison with shelter manager.
  • Ensure that all documents submitted on behalf of a client are valid.
  • Conduct intake interviews and asses each client upon entry to the program for needs and strengths. Identify the level of need for medical/dental, social, educational needs and support.
  • Provides clients with referrals and resources, then assists clients in application and follow up.
  • Responds to security concerns appropriately, and documents observations and actions taken.
  • Input client data into Apricot
  • Provide all required documentation in a timely manner, which may include client follow-up, outcome evaluation, and evaluation.
  • Identifies repairs and/or household needs and coordinates with maintenance or others to ensure needs are met.
  • Completes and maintains case notes and documents service statistics.
  • Facilitates safety of residents by doing periodic inspections, teaching fire safety, and conducting regular fire drills.
  • Attends community resource meetings to learn potential resources.
  • Other tasks assigned by the manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of community resources and counseling/social work practices with high risk population.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish rapport.
  • Ability to motivate others towards achieving goals.
  • Completion of 40-hour domestic violence training
  • Ability to complete the required training and incorporate the techniques taught
  • Must be able to pass CPR and First Aid Training

Part-Time

POSITION:  Youth Advocate – FAM SPOT

REPORTS TO:  Program Manager

LOCATION: Victorville City, CA

HOURS:  This is a full-time position. Schedule is 8 hours a day from 12pm to 8pm; Fam Spot program is open from Monday to Saturday. Working days will fluctuate based on needs of clients, evenings and weekends are required.

BASIC DUTIES:       The Youth Advocate is expected to provide therapeutic support and crisis management of youth participants in the FAM Spot Drop-In Center. Duties include but not limited to: completing intake and assessment of client needs, supervising recreational activities, supervising and helping with daily upkeep of the Center and educational activities, participating in group outings, coordinating with volunteers, updating and maintaining client files.
