Direct Service Staff:

Positions are available for a LGBTQ TAY (Transition Age Youth 18-25) Advocates in San Bernardino Ca. Current opening includes full-time positions only. This position will require weekend and late evening shifts.

Position Overview:

The LGBTQ TAY Youth Advocate is to provide services to formerly homeless LGBTQ youth who are in our San Bernardino 90-day shelter. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Youth Advocate is responsible for supporting shelter participants while they are in housing. Duties include: Completing intake assessments and intakes, advocacy, maintain chore list, meal planning, grocery shopping, supportive groups and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our participants. The person will also be responsible to ensure there is plenty of food in the house and all basic needs are being met.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma informed care and counseling/social work practices with homeless LGBTQ youth. Excellent documentation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish rapport. Ability to motivate others towards achieving goals. Pass a back-ground check.  Ability to complete the required training and incorporate the techniques taught. Must have valid Driver License and Auto Insurance.

Compensation:

Salary range $18.00-$20.00 hour based on education and experience.  Paid vacation and sick time, paid holidays, and paid health insurance for full time positions.
