Shelter Advocate:

Position is for full-time overnight at the Domestic Violence Shelter for victims who are fleeing a violent situation and are in need of shelter.

Position overview:

The Shelter Advocate is expected to assist victims of violence, promoting trust and communication while the victim is in shelter.  Provide participants with a multitude of services and skills that will help them learn new skills to live a violent free life.

Duties include: 

Completing intakes and discharge paper work, responsible for crisis hotline, supervising and helping with daily chores, facilitate groups, classes, assist participants to navigate through the legal system, offer court support, maintain client files, and inputting data and other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Must have genuine respect for and interest of families of diverse racial and ethic identity and the ability to form a relationship with our participants and there children, judgement free.  Ability to practice all aspects of trauma informed approach [training will be provided].  Advocate for our participants.  Must be able and willing to provide emergency hotline advocacy and crisis intervention.  Ability to complete the required training and incorporate the techniques taught.  Must be able to pass CPR, first aid training, and food handlers card.  Maintain confidentially.  Must have excellent written and verbal communications skill, be able to work independently and as a team.  Must have driver license and insurance.  Must have first covid vaccine.

Compensation:

Salary will be $17.00 -$20.00 per hour.  Paid vacations, paid holidays, and health insurance for full time positions. Please send resumes to tracey@familyassist.org
